Our Assessment Process
What to Expect
We understand that organising an assessment can feel overwhelming, particularly if you are unsure what to expect.
At Maple Psychology, we aim to make the process as clear and supportive as possible.
Step 1: Initial Appointment
We begin by getting to know you or your child, discussing your concerns, gathering relevant background information, and determining which assessment is most appropriate.
Step 2: Assessment Sessions
Assessment sessions are completed over one or more appointments, depending on the type of assessment and the individual’s needs. Sessions may include clinical interviews, questionnaires, standardised assessment tools, observations, and age-appropriate activities. Where relevant and with consent, we may also gather information from or collaborate with parents, family members, teachers, schools, and other professionals to develop a comprehensive understanding of the individual across different areas of their life.
Step 3: Scoring and Interpretation
Following the assessment, your psychologist carefully reviews all information, integrates the results, and considers the findings alongside developmental history and clinical observations.
Step 4: Feedback Appointment
We meet with you to explain the results in clear, supportive language. This is an opportunity to ask questions, discuss recommendations, and better understand the findings.
Step 5: Comprehensive Report
You’ll receive a detailed report outlining the assessment findings, strengths, recommendations, and—where appropriate—diagnostic outcomes. Our reports are written in practical language and are designed to be useful for families, schools, workplaces, medical professionals, and funding bodies.
Our goal is for every person to leave the assessment process feeling informed, supported, and empowered with a clearer understanding of themselves or their child.
