Trauma

Healing at Your Own Pace

Trauma can affect the way we think, feel, relate to others, and experience safety in the world. It may result from a single event or from ongoing experiences over time.

Trauma responses are not signs of weakness, they are adaptive responses from a nervous system trying to protect you.

At Maple Psychology, we provide trauma-informed therapy that prioritises safety, trust, collaboration, and choice. We understand that healing cannot be rushed, and therapy always moves at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Rather than expecting people to immediately revisit painful experiences, we begin by helping you develop stability, emotional regulation, and a greater understanding of how trauma has impacted your nervous system.

Therapy may involve understanding trauma responses such as fight, flight, freeze, or fawn, developing grounding strategies, strengthening relationships, processing difficult experiences when appropriate, and rebuilding a sense of safety.

Healing looks different for everyone, and there is no right timeline. Our role is to walk alongside you with compassion and curiosity as you move towards recovery.
