Neurodivergence
Neurodivergence describes the many different ways that people can think, learn, communicate, process information and experience the world. This can include Autism, ADHD, learning differences, intellectual disability and other neurodevelopmental differences.
At Maple Psychology, we take a neuroaffirming approach, which means recognising that different brains come with their own individual strengths, challenges and support needs. Our focus isn’t on teaching someone to hide who they are or appear more “typical”, but on helping them better understand themselves and find strategies, environments and supports that work for them.
Therapy may explore areas such as emotional regulation, executive functioning, sensory needs, masking, burnout, relationships, communication, identity, self-esteem and navigating school, work or everyday life. Support is tailored to the individual rather than assuming that everyone with the same diagnosis will have the same experiences or needs.
For people who are wondering whether they may be neurodivergent, Maple also offers Autism, ADHD, cognitive and learning assessments across childhood and adulthood.
