Emotional Regulation
Understanding Emotions, Building Confidence
Emotions are an important part of being human. They provide valuable information about our needs, values, and experiences. Sometimes, however, emotions can feel overwhelming, confusing, or difficult to manage.
Emotional regulation isn’t about getting rid of emotions or always staying calm. It’s about recognising emotions, understanding what they’re communicating, and responding in ways that support your wellbeing.

At Maple Psychology, we help children, adolescents, and adults build emotional awareness and develop practical regulation strategies that suit their individual needs.
We explore how the nervous system works, recognise early warning signs of distress, understand emotional triggers, and build skills that increase confidence when navigating difficult situations.
Therapy may include mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional awareness, self-compassion, problem solving, sensory strategies, and communication skills.
Our goal is to help people feel more in control of their emotions without feeling controlled by them.
