ADHD Assessments

Understanding How Your Brain Works

ADHD affects much more than attention. It influences executive functioning, emotional regulation, motivation, organisation, working memory, and everyday functioning.

At Maple Psychology, we provide comprehensive ADHD assessments for children, adolescents, and adults using a neuroaffirming and evidence-based approach. Many people seek assessment after recognising lifelong patterns of distractibility, overwhelm, forgetfulness, emotional intensity, or difficulties managing everyday responsibilities. Others seek answers after a child begins experiencing challenges at school or home.

Receiving an assessment can provide clarity, validation, and access to supports that improve quality of life.

Our assessment process

Every assessment is individualised and may include

  • Clinical interview
  • Developmental history
  • Parent/caregiver interview (where appropriate)
  • Teacher questionnaires
  • Standardised ADHD measures
  • Cognitive assessment
  • Executive functioning interview/assessment
  • Review of previous reports
  • Feedback appointment
  • Comprehensive written report

Diagnosis is never based on one questionnaire alone. We consider multiple sources of information alongside clinical expertise to develop a thorough understanding of each person’s strengths and challenges.

Our reports include

  • Diagnostic outcome (where appropriate)
  • Individual strengths
  • Functional impacts
  • Recommendations
  • School/Workplace recommendations
  • Therapy recommendations
  • Further referrals if required

Our aim is to provide answers that are meaningful, practical, and respectful of each person’s individual experiences.
